Eagle Point

Garry Purcell (Melbourne, Australia) ~ Eagle Point - Lake King (oil)
~

I wandered with you
A long time ago
The weekend was our time
To just be in
 Open grasslands
Wetlands
Wild trees and
Wildflowers
I was just a young child
But you were my guide
My spirit
My father

An intensely moving and well written tribute. The beautiful economy of language here is very effective. I also love the painting.

It took forever for this comment log to open so I hope I'm even posting on the right poem... The dectina refrain you have written is lovely. And the pic is so moody. I think you have managed to do the pic justice with your poem. By the way, this is not the first time I've tried to comment but could just never get the comment box to open up... Thanks for using the dectina refrain.

Beautiful imagery...poetic memory...I lost my father this year...it evoked memories of walks with him
